The Grace of God
The Grace of God
Casey Clement
God’s grace is just as needed today as it ever has been. With all the evils of this world isn’t it wonderful to know that God's grace is a gift that is freely given to us? Grace is the source of our salvation and spiritual growth. One of the most well-known examples of God's grace can be found in Ephesians 2:8-9, which says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Paul reminds the brethren in Ephesus that salvation is a gift of God's grace and not something they would ever deserve. Another powerful demonstration of God's grace can be found in Titus 2:11-12, which reads, "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world." This verse helps us to understand that God's grace not only saves but empowers us to live a holy and righteous life. The Bible also teaches us that God's grace is our source of hope and encouragement. Paul says in Romans 5:20-21, "Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so, might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord." Here Paul shows that God's grace is greater than any sin we may commit and that it is powerful enough to lead us to eternal life. Friends the grace of God calls us to extend grace and mercy to others. As Colossians 4:6 says, "Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." Paul told the church at Colossae to be gracious and speak words of encouragement, and to forgive in the same way that we have been forgiven by God.
In conclusion, the grace of God has the power to change lives in profound ways. From His unmerited favor to His steadfast love, God has demonstrated His grace in a way that is both undeniable and awe-inspiring. As we abide in His grace and allow it to flow through us, we can become a reflection of His character. We can become instruments of His grace to the world around us. Don’t you want to be a source of His grace and mercy to those around you?
It is my prayer that we never lose sight of this incredible responsibility and that it remains part of the foundation of our faith and the source of our strength.

PS> In addition to telling someone you love them and being kind go out of your way to show favor to someone who doesn’t deserve it. As you go through the week reflect on these passages (John 1:16; Acts 15:11; Romans 4:5; 2 Corinthians 2:7; Ephesians 2:4-5; 4:30; Titus 3:4-5; 1 Peter 2:21; 2 Peter 1:10-11)
