Why Be A Christian?

WHY BE A CHRISTIAN?

And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. Acts 11:26
Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You almost persuade me to be a Christian.”  Acts 26:28
Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this name.  I Peter 4:16

Why be a Christian?  Today Christianity is ridiculed all over the world.  Why should we endure that ridicule and mockery?  Consider three very simple answers as to why we need to be a Christian and not be ashamed.

OUR PAST:
We are sinners.  Maybe not in the same sense of some horrible sins, but we are all sinners.  Adam and Eve brought sin into the world.  Any sin makes one a sinner.  For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of   God.  Romans 3:23  For the wages of sin is death.  Romans 6:23.

OUR PRESENT:
Those who live the Christian life according to the teachings of the New Testament are people of contentment and inner peace.  John 10:10  The thief does not  come except to kill, and to destroy.  I have come that they may have life and that they may have it abundantly.  Some people fail to see the value of living the Christian life on a daily basis.  It is why Paul could say… For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.  Philippians 1:21.

OUR FUTURE:
How often do you think about your eternal destiny?  It is a shame that many people never think about eternity until they are at the point of death.  The truth is, we are all at the point of death every day.  Life is short at best.  For many life is extremely short.

Being a Christian takes care of our past, our present and our future.  It provides the abundant life Jesus promised and hope for a better
tomorrow.  Don’t waste another day, become a Christian today.
