Give God The Glory

GIVE GOD THE GLORY

“For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and  ourselves your bondservants for Jesus sake.  For it is God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of  Jesus Christ.”  II Corinthians 4:5-6

Paul was one of the most humble preachers of the gospel to ever live.  He never wanted the spotlight.  He wanted his life to be a light shining on Jesus Christ to give the glory to God.

One of the biggest hindrances to the preaching of the gospel is that we let ourselves get in the way.  Our opinions, our commentaries, and our feelings often overshadow the true light the world needs to see.

God brought light out of darkness in two ways.  On the first day of creation God said… Let there be light.”  Since that day the world has been illuminated by the heavenly lights placed by God.  Then in the fullness of time God sent another light into the world.

John 1:1-3 presents Jesus as in the beginning and creator of the universe.  Then he writes in Vs. 4&5 “… In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not   comprehend it.”  We can say that the world today does not comprehend the light of Christ because of the darkness.

The world will always be in darkness because Satan has become the ruler in  the hearts and minds of most people.  Sadly too many who call themselves Christians are not reflecting the light of Christ to the world.  We need to do as the children’s song teaches… This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine… hide it under a bushel: NO!  I’m gonna let it shine…”

Back to Paul and you and me.  His life was devoted to the message of Christ to a world lost in the darkness of sin.  The world today needs to see Christians living in a way that the light is shining on Jesus Christ to give the glory to God.
