CHRISTIANS, POLITICS AND PRAYER

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all goodness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.   I Timothy 2:1-3

Wednesday  Joe Biden was inaugurated to the office of president of the United States.  It was a bitter-sweet day for most Americans.  Those who felt the election was rigged and unfair will have a bitter taste in their mouth for months to come.  Those who felt the election was honest and fair and supported Biden consider it a sweet victory.  No matter which way you voted or how you feel about the election we have a mandate from God’s word to pray for our nations leaders.

There are many things we need to pray about in reference to the leaders of our nation.  We need to pray that they will humbly seek guidance from God’s word as to how they should lead.  We need to pray that they will  ignore the voices that cry for ungodly regulations and support wicked lifestyles.  We need to pray that they will stand firm against those who have no heart for the life of the unborn.

We need to pray for peace.  There has been too much destruction, chaos and loss of life and property.  What happened on the 6th of January should never happen again.  The United States has been a beacon of hope for the world for better than 200 years.  May we be so again because the world is watching.

As the church, we don’t take sides in politics.  We take sides with God and His word.  As Peter and John said to the Jewish leaders who tried to stop them from preaching Jesus, Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.  For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”  Acts 4:19-20  May we boldly proclaim the truth of God’s word.

Please join with me in praying for our president, congress, judges and all leaders of the world to submit to God and His Holy Word.
