Feeling The Threat

FEELING THE THREAT

And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good.  But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed.  “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.”

I Peter 3:13-14

To say we are living in a divided country is an understatement.  The divisions could not be more stark.  We have always been a divided nation politically, economically, and socially.  There have been times when strife and hatred have exploded into chaos and destruction.  But it seems that today it is more explosive and destructive than ever.  If you listen to the news and the plans certain groups have for creating even more destruction over the coming election and an appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court you wonder what country you are living in.  So where does that leave us as Christians and the church?

Conservative Christian values are the target of the liberal socialist mob who want to destroy what our country has stood for since the early days of our history.  Anyone who takes a stand for biblical truth and moral decency is silenced by violence and destruction.  It is time for the silent majority to stop being silent.  The problem is when we become vocal about what we believe about marriage, abortion, and many other moral and biblical values we are going to feel the threat.

Peter and the other apostles knew this very well.  When they stood  up for God, Christ, and truth, they were persecuted.  Most of them died defending their faith.  Will we?  Peter’s words in I Peter 4:15-17 should  resonate with us all.  But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, and evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters.  Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him glorify God in this matter.  For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?”

ARE YOU FEELING THE THREAT?
