How Is Your Heart?

HOW IS YOUR HEART?

How many hearts do you have?  You will probably say just one, but the Bible speaks of another kind of heart.  In fact when Samuel anointed Saul to be the first king over Israel the Bible says “that God gave him another heart.” I Samuel 10:9.  This was the heart he needed  to lead  Israel when he became their first king.

There is something interesting about this other heart.  It can lead us to do good, or evil.  In fact Saul failed to accept the direction his new heart was trying to lead him.  Too often he leaned on his own human strengths and rejected the guidance of his new heart.  Because he refused to obey the Lord he lost his position as king.

Our hearts are being tested these days.  Many may have come to the conclusion that it really doesn’t matter if we meet as a church in one place or not.  Since we have been providing a time of worship by way of YouTube, some may feel that meeting together is not all that important.  But is it?  What do we miss when we miss?

When we miss meeting together we miss more than just being in the same place at the same time.  We miss seeing each other’s smiling  faces.  We miss singing joyfully together in harmony of voice and harmony of heart.  We miss the fellowship we share in communion together around the Lord’s table.  There is a reason why Paul wrote in I Corinthians 11:18 when you come together as a church…  God wants His children to be together in worship to Him.

Do you yearn for the time we will once again come together as a church in worship to our Lord and fellowship with each other? If you do then your spiritual heart is spiritually healthy and strong.  If not, then your spiritual heart is spiritually sick and near death.

And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patient waiting for Christ.  II Thessalonians 3:5
