If Jesus Visited Our Church

IF JESUS VISITED OUR CHURCH…

What if Jesus were to suddenly visit our church?  Where would He sit?  What would He say?  What would He see?  What would you say to Him?  How would you act?  How would you worship?  You might say, “That would never happen.”  But would it?  The truth is He has already been in assembly with those who were there.  Jesus said, Where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”  Matthew 18:20

If Jesus visited our assembly He would worship God in Spirit and in truth just as He said we should; John 4:24  He might sit next to you or to me, but He wouldn’t be embarrassed to sit next to anyone.  I am quiet certain that our worship would be more spiritual, more joyful, and more focused on God.

Now that we are in the midst of a pandemic, what would He think about those who are present and those who are absent?  Obviously He would know all the reasons for both.  But for some, those reasons may be more excuse than reason.  Is everyone absent a person at risk for the virus?  Does everyone absent need to care for an elderly at risk relative?  Jesus knows who is and who isn’t.

It is easy for us to forget that Jesus is present every time the church meets.  He knows the heart of every worshipper and those who stay at home for whatever reason… or excuse.

The elders have taken every possible step to insure a safe and healthy environment for us to gather for worship.  Masks are being worn by most even if it is uncomfortable to wear it.  Seating is on every other pew.    Communion is served by the elders with gloves and masks.  Is it different? Yes, but if you will come and worship with us I think you will find it to be as safe as any place you might choose to go.  I am sure Jesus would be happy to worship with you.
