It Is The Lord's

IT IS THE LORD’S

“The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief  cornerstone. This was the Lord’s doing;  It is marvelous in our eyes.   This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”               Psalm 118:22-24

We call Sunday “The Lord’s Day” because John called it such in  Revelation 1:10.  The truth is, every day is the Lord’s Day.  In fact everything is the Lord’s. Nothing belongs to us.  It is all His.  We are just stewards of the blessings He has placed in our hands.

The Christian’s citizenship is in heaven.  We are simply pilgrims travelling the road of life that will end up somewhere in eternity.  To dwell primarily on the physical things is a tragic mistake.  We need to remind ourselves of this regularly.  The terrible virus that has plagued the world and the social unrest in our nation are examples of how fragile our lives are in this world.  Nothing here is certain.  But one things is for sure, God’s word is certain, and He will take care of His children who remain faithful no matter how the world treats us.

Our main task it to take the message of the gospel to a world that is travelling toward eternity; the majority of which are headed to eternal damnation.  The above Psalm states that the builders rejected the stone which has become the chief cornerstone.  Jesus was and is that cornerstone, and people are still rejecting Him.

Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”        Ephesians 2:19-22
