Fellowship In Christ

FELLOWSHIP IN CHRIST

But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.  I John 1:7

Many have expressed disappointment that we cannot meet as a church and enjoy the fellowship of worship together because of the virus that is plaguing the world.  Most of us understand the purpose and the need of assembling together.    Now we are all practicing social distancing at the direction of our state and nations leaders.  The question is, “can we remain in fellowship and stay connected through this pandemic?”  Yes we can.

The first step in our connection to Christ and being connected to each other is through baptism into Christ. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.  Galatians 3:26-27  When we are baptized into Christ Jesus, we become children of God.  And as children of God we are in fellowship with all others who have been baptized into Christ.  See also Romans 8:16-17

The second step in our connection to Christ and being connected to each other is in eating the Lord’s supper every Lord’s day.  The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not communion of the blood of Christ?  The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?  For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.  II Corinthians 10:16-17.  Many have made provision to observe the Lord’s supper at home during this time of social distancing. If you have not done so, why not?  Failure to commune with Christ on the Lord’s day is to break fellowship with Christ and with others in Christ unless there is a justifiable reason not to do so.

Fellowship with Christ and one another is vital to our spiritual health.  Don’t let this world health crisis destroy our fellowship.
