Bringing People To Jesus
BRINGING PEOPLE TO JESUS
Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples, and looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, “Behold the Lamb of God?” The two disciples heard him speak and they followed Jesus. John 1:35-37
One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew Simon Peter’s brother, And he brought him to Jesus. John 1:40-42
Jesus attracted multitudes of people. But it all began with a few disciples of John who were brought to Jesus. Quickly those disciples of John became disciples of Jesus and soon after there were thousands following Him.
Genuine Christianity attracts people. Love attracts people. A caring and unified fellowship attracts people. It is what Jesus intended for His disciples to be. He wanted His disciples to be an avenue to a listening ear and an open heart.
Bringing people to Jesus is the business of the church and every Christian in it. Even John recognized that his disciples needed to become Jesus disciples. In John 3:30 He said, “He must increase and I must decrease.” The great apostle Paul humbled himself so as to let Christ be seen through Him. His words in Galatians 4:19 were, “My little children, for whom I labored in birth again until Christ is formed in you.” Even Jesus made sure that the work He did was bringing glory to God. In His prayer shortly before He was arrested to be tried and crucified, He prayed, “Father the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You.” John 17:1 “I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.” John 17:4
Each of us should make sure that our efforts are bringing
people to Jesus and giving the glory to God and not to ourselves.
